What Weekend Campouts provides

Public trip pages

Publish trip details, dates, location, activities, group size, pricing, itinerary, what's included and not included, packing lists, meeting information, galleries, FAQs, and your cancellation policy.

Participant registration

Participants register through the platform, and you manage confirmed registrations and participant records in one place.

Payment-processing technology through Stripe Connect

For paid campouts, participant payments are processed through your connected Stripe account. Weekend Campouts deducts a fixed $4 technology fee for each confirmed paid participant.

Individual participant waivers

Every participant — including each +1 — can create or connect a profile and sign their own Activity Waiver.

Keep the participant information you need to run the trip together with each registration.

Automated and host-managed trip communication

How hosting works

After approval, complete your public host profile, review host responsibilities, and connect Stripe if you plan to offer paid trips.

As an independent host, you decide what kind of campout to offer, where and when it takes place, how much it costs, who it is appropriate for, and what participants need to bring. Weekend Campouts provides technology for publishing, discovery, registration, payments, participant records, individual waivers, and communication.

The host—not Weekend Campouts—is responsible for campsite reservations, permits, insurance, trip planning, accurate listings, safety procedures, on-site operations, participant support, cancellations, refunds, disputes, and chargebacks.

Weekend Campouts does not provide or arrange transportation for independently hosted trips.

Weekend Campouts provides booking and trip-management technology for independent campout hosts. Weekend Campouts does not sell or arrange air, sea, vehicle, or other passenger transportation for independently hosted trips. Hosts may not use Weekend Campouts to sell or bundle transportation unless the arrangement has been separately reviewed and expressly authorized in writing.

Weekend Campouts may provide a participant-only space where confirmed campers can voluntarily coordinate carpools. Weekend Campouts does not provide, operate, inspect, arrange, supervise, or guarantee transportation. Drivers and passengers make their own voluntary arrangements and are responsible for determining whether those arrangements are appropriate.

Simple, predictable host pricing

There is no required monthly subscription and no percentage commission during the Weekend Campouts launch period. Weekend Campouts charges a fixed $4 platform technology fee for each confirmed paid participant, regardless of the price of the campout.

  • You set your trip price.
  • The $4 technology fee does not increase when your trip price increases.
  • Free-trip registrations do not incur a Weekend Campouts technology fee during the launch period.
  • Applicable Stripe processing fees remain the host's responsibility.
  • The host receives participant payments through the approved Stripe Connect configuration.
  • Weekend Campouts provides the booking and trip-management technology.
  • The host remains responsible for the trip, participants, cancellations, refunds, disputes, and chargebacks.

Suppose you charge $75 per participant. The Weekend Campouts technology fee is $4—not a percentage of the $75 trip price. Applicable Stripe processing fees are calculated separately.

The fee is charged per participant, not per checkout order: one participant is $4, and a participant plus one +1 is $8.

The host pays the technology fee. When setting your trip price, account for your expected expenses, the fixed Weekend Campouts technology fee, and applicable Stripe processing fees. Participants should see the complete trip price before checkout.

Hosts may offer free campouts when the trip meets Weekend Campouts requirements. Free-trip registrations do not incur a Weekend Campouts technology fee during the launch period, and Stripe is not required when no payment is collected. Free participants still register, create or connect their profiles, accept applicable Terms, sign individual Activity Waivers, complete required participant information, and follow the trip's participant requirements. A free trip is still independently operated by the host.

Become a Founding Host

We're inviting a small group of Founding Hosts to help shape the Weekend Campouts hosting experience. Founding Hosts receive personal onboarding, help setting up their first trip, early access to new host tools, featured-placement opportunities, and a direct way to provide product feedback.

This is a good fit for organizers who are ready to publish and host a real campout, bring an existing community or help build a new one, and provide thoughtful feedback after using the platform.

During the launch period, there is no required monthly host subscription. The standard fixed $4 technology fee applies to each confirmed paid participant unless a separate written Founding Host agreement expressly provides otherwise.

Do I need an existing Meetup or Facebook group?
No. Existing community leaders are welcome, but you do not need an established group to apply. We're also interested in experienced campers who are ready to create welcoming, well-planned group experiences.
Can I promote the trip through my current community?
Yes. You can continue using Meetup, Facebook, Instagram, email, or your existing community. Share your Weekend Campouts trip link so participants can complete registration, payment, waivers, and required trip information in one place.
How much does it cost to host?
There is no required monthly or annual host subscription during the launch period. Weekend Campouts charges the host a fixed $4 technology fee for each confirmed paid participant. The fee does not change based on the price of the trip. Applicable Stripe processing fees are separate.
Does Weekend Campouts take a commission?
No. Weekend Campouts does not currently charge a percentage commission or take a percentage of the trip price. The host pays a fixed $4 technology fee for each confirmed paid participant.
Who determines the trip price?
The independent host sets the trip price and identifies what is and is not included. Hosts should account for their expenses, the fixed Weekend Campouts technology fee, and applicable Stripe processing fees when setting the published price.
How do payments work?
For paid campouts, participant payments are processed through the host's connected Stripe account using Stripe Connect. Weekend Campouts deducts its fixed $4 technology fee for each confirmed paid participant. Applicable Stripe processing fees are separate.
Can I host a free campout?
Yes, when the trip meets Weekend Campouts requirements. Free-trip registrations do not incur a Weekend Campouts technology fee during the launch period, and Stripe is not required if no payment is collected.
Can I provide transportation?
Weekend Campouts does not sell or arrange participant transportation. Participants may voluntarily coordinate carpools through participant-only community tools. Any host plan to sell, bundle, arrange, or provide transportation requires separate review and written authorization before the trip can be published.
Who handles refunds and disputes?
The independent host establishes the trip-specific cancellation policy and is responsible for participant support, cancellations, refunds, disputes, and chargebacks related to the host's trip. Weekend Campouts provides the payment and management technology.
Is Weekend Campouts the trip organizer?
No. Unless a listing expressly identifies Weekend Campouts as the host, the campout is independently created and operated by the host. Weekend Campouts provides the booking and trip-management platform.
Do I need insurance?
Insurance requirements depend on the activities, location, permits, business structure, and other details of the trip. Hosts are responsible for determining and maintaining any insurance required for their activities. Weekend Campouts may request proof of insurance.
Do I need permits?
Some public lands, parks, campgrounds, and organized activities require permits or commercial-use authorization. The host is responsible for determining and meeting the requirements that apply to each trip.
Am I an employee of Weekend Campouts?
No. Hosts operate independently and are not employees, agents, partners, or representatives of Weekend Campouts.
Does Weekend Campouts guarantee bookings?
No. Weekend Campouts provides tools for discovery and trip management, but it does not guarantee a specific number of registrations or income.
What happens after I apply?
We'll review your experience, proposed campout, transportation plans, and readiness to host. We may request more information before making a decision. Approval is required before you can publish trips as an independent host.
